What is a Giclée Museum Print?
A Giclée Museum Print is created by actually spraying color pigment onto paper or canvas. The word, Giclée, in French means 'to spray or squirt', thus the name. This method of creating art prints is so exacting that other previous methods pale in comparison. The original art, or a color transparency furnished by the artist, is digitally scanned and stored on a disk. The lab technician can then alter the image, colors and value intensities, to perfectly match the original art. The densities are even adjusted for the different substrates, paper vs. canvas. The pigmented inks used to create these Giclées are now recognized as having a lifespan of over 100 years.
